Fish out fraudulent workers, KWSG charges labour

Date: 2013-12-06

Kwara State government has frowned at a situation whereby some civil servants in the state engage in double appointment.

The State's Head of Service (HOS), Alhaji Dabarako Mohammed made this known when members of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Ilorin yesterday .

Dabarako said government is ready to tackle what he called "fraudulent activities" of some civil servants who engage in double appointment.

He recalled that five workers that were recently apprehended have faced disciplinary action but warned that any worker in the employment of the state government found collecting salary in two or more places of work would be penalized.

The number one civil servant in the state of harmony said union leaders should assist government in fishing out fake and fraudulent members in the service.

"Some civil servants are cheating the government by working in two places thereby claiming double salary. Some work with the state government and with the Federal Government at the same time thereby claiming double salary. This is a fraudulent act," HOS said.

While responding to the issue of implementing the remaining 50% salary increase to Nurses, HOS said it will be done if the state's economy improves noting that presently the income of the state is not increasing while the expenditure kept on increasing stressing that government will not shirk in its responsibility to the citizenry.

Earlier, the leader of the team, who is the state chairman of National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives, Comrade Moses Ajiboye, requested for implementation of the remaining 50% for members among others.

He said the state has not implemented modified salary structure at the local government level while HOS said the consolidated salary structure of workers includes all the allowances and entitlement of workers.
