Kwara Poly arrests suspected cultists, suspends seven
The Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin has suspended seven students of the institution over the violation of the school rules and regulations.
According to a statement signed by the school Head, Information and Publications Division, Alhaji T. Amuda explained that three of the students; Olowoyeye Emmanuel Ade, a computer science student, Ajala Adekunle Abdulkadri, a Marketing student and Lawal Abdulkadri from Banking and Finance Department were apprehereded with some incriminating documents.
Amuda stated that four out of the suspects were arrested by the institution over their involvement in cultism and other related activities.
He said, the cultism suspects were; Ibiyeye Sunkanmi Mathew a Computer Science Student; Ajisafe Oluwafemi Ige, a Business Administration student; Salami Ismail from Public Administration and Sabit Durosimi, a student of Banking and Finance and another person who is not a student, Okedoyin Jide.
He informed that an infiltrator and cultism suspect, Hakeem Jimoh on Monday, February 17, 2014 came into the school campus and shot sporadically into the air to destabilize the existing peace in the institution.
Amuda mentioned that investigation conducted by the school revealed that Hakeem Jimoh was not a student at the polytechnic.
He also said all the suspects have been suspended from the polytechnic and handed over to the men of the state police command together with other suspects that were not students.
However, the school has commenced enlightment on both of its campuses to sensitize the school community on the need for peace on the campuses.
Meanwhile, the institution has tightened its security arrangement on its campuses as the first semester examination commences.
The school assured all staff and students maximum security for their lives and properties. "No stone will be left unturned in terms of students security on our campuses.
