Allow IGP To Investigate Saraki - Coalition

Date: 2012-05-08

The Civil Society Coalition of Nigeria,( CSCN), has cautioned mischief makers to allow the Nigeria Police conclude its investigation on Senator Bukola Saraki before passing judgement on him.

The Coalition's Coordinator, Alhaji Yunusa Muhammed who addressed the press at the weekend raised the alarm that mischief makers were working tirelessly to ensure that the former governor was docked by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Mohammed who alleged that his coalition stumbled on a correspondence to the EFCC  where unfounded and spurious allegations ranging from misappropriation of funds amounting to billons of naira were levelled against the Senator when he held sway as governor of Kwara State  expressed confidence that Saraki would be vindicated at the end of the day.

"The coalition wishes to draw the attention of Nigerians to the unfolding scheme of mischief makers and prophets of doom who are out working tirelessly to ensure that Senator Bukola Saraki is arrested by the EFCC and arraigned before the Federal High Court.

"The Coalition denounces and condemns in totality any move to ridicule and tarnish the good image of Senator Saraki. We view the antics of the mischief makers as a project that is doomed and that would surely fail.

"We call on those causing confusion and saying that the hands of the law has caught up with Senator Saraki to also wait for the

investigation to be concluded before jumping into conclusions", the coalition said.

Mohammed who called on the Nigeria Police to ensure that their investigation on the Saraki case was thorough and in compliance with international standard, advised the mischief makers and fifth columnists not to heat up the polity, saying they should allow the Nigeria police to do its job dispassionately and come out with its findings before hanging Senator Saraki.
